Le Retour - Tuzigoot, Jerome, and Prescott

Friday morning. Our last day of exploring. Leaving the Hilton Garden Hotel for Cottonwood.

Tuzigoot or The Crooked Water in Apache.

The Verde Valley.

View of Jerome.

'The Yavapai mined the ores (Azurite, malachite) in the Jerome area and traded them to other tribes. When Spaniards arrived in 1583, Yavapai miners had already dug a shaft 18 feet deep (5 m) into the mountain. Copper was mined later by Euro-Americans.'

"... the people that used to live here are still thriving, they didn't abandon their places, they are still connected spiritually." Jerome Zunie, Pueblo of Zuni.

Driving from Jerome to Prescott and a last view of Sedona red rocks.
